About Us
The DQC was formed in 2008. Our goal: to produce high quality, innovative, unique sounding, and environmentally friendly guitar effect pedals.
The three founding members, from backgrounds variously in music and electronics engineering, felt that all of the Fuzz and Distortion pedals we had tried over the years were lacking something. The mid-high range was always muddy; the low-end never quite low enough; the playing volume would decrease noticeably once the pedal was turned on; and the sustain never quite lived up to its name. But, above all else, there seemed to be an inbuilt lack of versatility in sound: one pedal would give you your crunch, another your fuzz, and a third for that slightly old school valve distortion sound.
Why couldn’t all this be incorporated into one pedal?
To answer this question, we went ahead and built one.
Then, after studying that one, we made a better one.
Then it became clear that existing pedals were drawing far too much battery power for no good reason. So we decided to get rid of the reliance on the old 9v battery and come up with something much more efficient and sustainable. Oh, and powerful.
And then we built a better one...
And so it went for 12 months until we arrived at The LunchBox™.
